Consider this an opportunity to either do all your info-shopping in the one place, or get a speculative perspective on what might be worth checking out. These are untested reads. Secret Wars on Infinite Earths can offer no guarantee or endorsement of quality. These are simply titles that may be of potential interest. Some items may ship late.

The Deep Dish...
ARTWORK: Zach Howard- APR080244 JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED #46 $2.25
It's a space-faring adventure this month in JLU as John Stewart heads off with animated series Corps buddies to tackle an intergalactic menace! I love a book like this for the sheer joy of being able to expect a fairly eclectic selection of subjects and characters, all shuffled without too much baggage. It's the kind of thing that could really refresh a guy stuck in a rut! In fact, if not for the deliberate conceit to make it kid-friendly, I almost think it's the model for a solution to Mark Waid's flagging Brave and the Bold. I mean, over the past few months we're talking Joker, Mirror Master, Gorilla Grodd, Superman, and now Green Lanterns! Wow!

- APR080212 MANHUNTER #31 $2.99
Perpetually cash strapped as I am, I never got to throw my lot in with this series, but I'm pleased to see it on the shipping list! If I'm not mistaken it was always on hiatus, but it still feels like a minor triumph to actually see Manhunter resume a numerical schedule given the unshakable sense of the Black Racer looming. [That's not happening in the book, I just haven't had enough sleep and thought being meta seemed like a good idea...]

ARTWORK: Adi GranovARTWORK: Adi Granov- APR082291 NOVA #14 $2.99 ***
When you're the kind of hit-and-miss read Nova seems to be, a guy like me could really be swayed by an appearance bythe Silver Surfer! I can't help but feel the Surfer's been cheated after the success of the Fantastic Four sequel, because, let's be honest. There have been villains who've benefitted more from a movie appearance than the Surfer, but as the cosmic corner of the Marvel universe plugs away, it seems like there's a permanent home for ol' chrome dome! I don't really know what's going on in the book, but it's just enough to know he and the big G-man are still hanging around.

- APR080162 TRINITY #1 $2.99 ***
Speaking of series offering an eclectic selection -- you've probably already had an opportunity to check out DC's latest weekly series; Trinity! The weekly throws up the volley of DC's three big internal icons; Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman; and promises to introduce a villainous antithesis to the trio of powers. I have to admit Busiek and McDaniel aren't especially convincing as a sales pitch, and although lessons have allegedly been learnt with Countdown, I feel myself pining for the array of secondary characters in 52 much more now, than with the last title.

ARTWORK: Leinil Yu- APR082246 ULTIMATE ORIGINS #1 (OF 5) (RES) $2.99 ***
Just when I'd gotten comfortable with the thought the Ultimate line had reached a penultimate stage of irrelevance, the imprint launches the much talked about conspiracy series set to redefine the line forever! On any other book these would surely be idle promises, but as Ultimate X-Men comes to a rumbling close, you have to think the threats are all real -- especially with Brian Bendis at the helm!
I have my doubts about his ability to [mis]manage one crossover, so with this event running simultaneous to Secret Invasion there's sure to be plenty of fodder for slagging off el Bóveda del cromo.

- APR082326 WOLVERINE DANGEROUS GAME $3.99
Aaaand we close this thoroughly arbitrary rundown of the week's earlier releases with a title that's pitched directly at a site like the Infinite Wars. A ban on underground fighting in the UK leads socialites to set-up a nasty fight club! We've seen this idea played out plenty of times, my favourite probably being Bloodsport 3, making this just another vehicle for Wolverine to play passenger in. This one's sure to be a hit or miss, probably the latter, but I thought it worth mentioning all the same. For archival purposes.
