Okay, can someone tell me what the hell is going on over there?!Since the hype of his initial return to a starring role, and subsequent steep decline in the quality stakes, I was pretty happy to ignore the current iteration of Moon Knight history. I've kept vaguely aware of something that may or may not involve Marc Spector's death, and the entrance of fellow urban death-monger, Frank Castle. Such guests spots have amounted to little more than a one-page cameo, in the past, but now it looks like the pair are sticking together long enough to fight -- a pair of luchadores?!? Give me a clue here, guys. Has Moon Knight actually gone so low, it's come around to be good again?

True to the Quesada-era style, Marvel are charging forward with the seventieth anniversary without a hint of self-consciousness or irony. While most would agree Marvel's era sits firmly in the sixties (unlike the staggered legacy of DC comics); Captain America, Sub-Mariner, and the Human Torch, all remind us of a timeline that dates back to World War II! By focusing on these classic characters, the anniversary editions feel more legitimate than some of Marvel's other efforts. They're also a great way to get a slice of Marvel's rarely utilized Golden Age thanks to the inclusion of early reprints. There are some great covers on offer, too, although, with a high pricetag, you're going to want to expect quantity over quality.Incidentally, while I realise this is a fifth week month, but the situation of a slow week hasn't been unique to April. Do you suppose there's some sort of agreement amongst the publishers to offer a relatively clean week to the likes of the books listed in our "Independents" stack? It is, afterall, a supreme opportunity to redirect a couple of the dollars you aren't spending on ridiculously priced $3.99 Wolverine books, into something new.
