Without immersing myself in the specifics of the series I think I'm actually starting to come around to Lady Bullseye, too. A lot, I'm sure, depends on the execution, but if this character manages to avoid being anything like her namesake, and lives up to the graphic simplicity of the character, it could be a lot of fun. Maybe vaguely Miller-esque, in the Sin City years. Which it almost certainly isn't... *grumble*

The DC Universe has never looked quite as grim as it has in the pages of Final Crisis! With the world in ruin at the hands of Darkseid and the Anti-Life Equation, the heroes of the DCU are scattered rebels in a defeated land. Green Arrow, Black Canary, and the Outsiders all make feeble efforts to fight back against evil that, for the first time, appears to be winning! I still have some interest in The Hood and his somewhat aborted plans, particularly as, despite the Skrull Invasion delays, the character hasn't been upstaged by Grant Morrison's Libra.As much as I'm ready to throw down a total vote of no confidence in Bendis on the Avengers titles, (and universe-wide crossovers, to be more accurate), I still have a toe in New Avengers. If there was any promise of getting back on the rails I might even dare to be enthusiastic, but the more I hear Dark Reign bandied about, the less enthusiastic I feel. Iron Patriot? A year too late, fellas.

We stopped in on Peter David's She-Hulk last month and found it substantially wanting, but there's a curious lure to the promise of an all-woman quartet of superpowers! Shulkie joins up with Invisible Woman, Valkyrie, and Thundra, to apparently form Marvel's latest fad team -- the Lady Liberators! I'm sure they're destined for trivia obscurity, but that doesn't mean it won't be fun! They're also in this week's issue of Hulk, but like I said, don't be stupid.- AUG082390 THUNDERBOLTS #125 SI $2.99
We always knew the 'faith in monsters' team could never last, but I'm so out of the loop, I can't imagine how a last stand against the Skrulls could have anything to do with the heroic fates of Mac Gargan, Bullseye, and the other Thunderbolts. Their brief appearance in Amazing really reminded the unfortunate negatives to what is otherwise an incredibly interesting collective of characters, even if their interactions with the Marvel universe managed to be unimpressive under not just Warren Ellis, but the many writers dealing with tie-ins. One can't help but feel none of these stories really lived up to the characterization they could've promised.
