The issues of Gotham Knights live on in infamy for recasting the villain - who once single-handedly dismantled the Justice League 'big seven' - as Hush's errand boy after being rescued him from mortal wounds inflicted by Green Arrow. With this Faces of Evil special, GJ protege, Sterling Gates, attempts to take a page from his master's book, retooling history through available connective tissues to effectively put the genie back in the bottle. At this point I just have no idea where the story is going, and I'm enjoying every second of it. I find it thoroughly discouraging that so many vocal readers seem to insist they 'don't understand' or worse still, that they think the story 'doesn't make sense' at all. I think one of the most unexpected consequences of Grant Morrison's dance with metatextual redefinition and the apocalypse is that it's really exposed the mediocrity of comic book readers. It highlights how the YouTube generation has changed the way comics are read, casting a potentially negative light on all the progress I thought we'd made this decade. In February we'll finally get a chance to talk more specifically about the issues, and hopefully help you find your own potential, because as someone whose education benefitted greatly from comics several decades ago, I like to think you're smarter than you're giving yourselves credit for.- NOV082381 MARVEL ADVENTURES SPIDER-MAN #47 $2.99
Suck it up, newbies! Prowler's in the house and that's a good thing! If you haven't studied the entire seventy year history of DC and Marvel comics, you might not know who Prowler is. Less little girl whinging, more reading, pansies! The character -- designed for dad by a young John Romita Jr -- is a classic case of the ol' perpetrator of crimes, solving the crimes. Genius!
