Paul Dini's self-imposed master class concludes as Heart of Hush promises a final instalment that will reveal a crucial secret about Thomas Elliot. I'm not really one to jump onto the Loeb bagging bandwagon, but Dini really does seem to be doing the writers job in a modern medium that demands certain development in it's creations. Dini tacks on new context to the character while also picking up lingering threads of the relationship between Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. Alex Ross returns to the Kingdom Come universe for the first time as both writer and artist, picking up interdimensional threads initiated by Geoff Johns in Justice Society America. How many planetary tragedies can one man suffer, even a Superman?

Apparently it's the series end, which is a shame, because for the first time it actually has my attention! Metallo has travelled to the future to seek out a deposit of Kryptonite that can power his robotic cells! In doing so he threatens to destroy the Man of Steel and in doing so completely change the future-history of the Legion of Superheroes! Always a series compacted firmly into a niche, it's nice to see familiar names, like Metallo and Supes, offering a friendly and welcoming face in the crowd of the thirty-first century!- SEP080127 NIGHTWING #150 RIP (NOTE PRICE) $3.99
Believing Nightwing responsible for the death of a former love; Harvey Dent has hatched a vengeful scheme to scar the faces of New York City's population in reataliation! With the Batman nowhere to be found in this RIP tie-in, Nightwing is forced to clash with the Dark Knight's most personal foe in solo combat. Nightwing will be cancelled in a few issues, so it will be very interesting to see how these final chapters develop the future for the character. Batman's post-RIP status remains unknown, but it's not just the caped crusader's fate that seems uncertain!- JUL082209 SAVAGE DRAGON #140 $3.50
Fans keen to investigate the founding Image heroes, but intimidated by a world alien and foreign should jump in here. Generally I don't like to pander to this kind of backwards thinking, but with a collective that includes Savage Dragon, Spawn, Witchblade, Invincible and Shadowhawk, now is the time to acknowledge it! Superhero superfun!
