Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader promises to be a very special look at a Gotham City post-RIP, with some alleged intention in the titlular allusion to Alan Moore's legendary final Superman tale. Add Andy Kubert to the list of names floating around the book, and you've got yourself a pretty significant read, I dare say. Apparently there've been some mix-ups regarding the longterm future of MI:13, but of the immediate future, there are really only three things you need to know; the moon, Dracula, and Dr. Doom. Admittedly, I've never been especially fond of the cornered-off tradition of Tomb of Dracula, but when you throw the looming promise of Dr. Doom into the equation, then you've got something very unique. Before we get to him, how about that Spitfire? Y'know, the one turned into a vampire by Baroness Blood. Mmm, nasty business, that!- DEC080127 GREEN LANTERN CORPS #33 (ORIGINS) $2.99
I can't honestly say I know, in any great detail, what's been going on in the Corps book, but it's a pretty easy sell when previews feature the warring adventures of Mongul's disembodied arm! Though somewhat overshadowed by Geoff Johns' headlining work on Green Lantern, GLC has run concurrently with it's own evident strengths branching from the central restructuring. The Blackest Night prelude continues, this month backing the issue up with an Origins & Omens short, which I'm beginning to think might be far more significant than I'd originally been inclined to believe. Nightwing wraps up it's final issue, along with various other Bat-family titles, as the status quo charges toward Battle for the Cowl. Call me sentimental, but I just can't help but feel some level of disappointment any time a long running series is cancelled. I suppose it's become increasingly rare for titles like these to exist in the modern era, what with the stupid and paranoid everywhere. I have to admit to being a bit of a cynic about Moonstone's relaunch of the Phantom license, but at $1.99, this is surely the perfect time for new readers to have a taste!
